Candle Safety:
Always keep a burning candle within sight - Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep - Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire - Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, and flammable decorations, etc. - Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets - Do not place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else - Never leave a lit candle unattended - Keep wicks trimmed ¼ at all times - Trim wicks carefully as natural wicks tend to be more delicate - Occasionally you may notice your wick bends to one side, this is normal and will usually even out - Only burn candles in or on heat and fire resistant surfaces - Soy candles will fade if left in the light for an extended period of time - Never expose soy candles to bright outdoor light or indoor spotlights - Always remove any packaging and/or ribbon before burining
Candle Burning Tips
When burning a candle for the first time, it is important to give it a “memory” burn”. You should burn the candle for 1 hour for each inch of it diameter. This allows your jar candle to establish a full melt pool increasing the scent throw. If a candle is not given a proper memory burn, it will “core burn” down the center and a good scent throw cannot be achieved. Also, you’ll be left with wax at the bottom and at the sides.Drafts or extreme room temperatures can cause uneven burn. The wick must always be kept centered. If a wick should ever move to one side while burning, extinguish the candle, and reposition the wick to the center. Also make sure your wick is centered each time you extinguish your candle.
If your wick is burning itself out, keep the wick trimmed to ¼”. Try not to trim the wick too short though, as the flame can drown when the wax melts around the wick and that can cause a wick to extinguish itself out. Remember no candle is soot free, but soy wax candles do have less soot and more importantly no toxins in the soot. Black soot is caused by a candle that is smoking, which is typically from too long of a wick. Make sure that you trim the wick to ¼” each and every time before you light your candle and do not burn your candle in a draft.
